We came in for landing in Ethiopia. The plan was to land, catch another flight to Harare, Zimbabwe and spend the night in a Holiday Inn there for one night before we went to the conference center. We came in for landing, Megan saw flashes of lightning (I was FINALLY sleeping), the plane picked up and flew back out. We rerouted to Djibouti, about half an hour away to refuel and wait out the storm.
It made a 12-13 hour flight into about 15 hours, We missed our connecting flight. It wasn’t “ideal”, but on the flip side, again we see God’s provision, the airline is paying for our hotel tonight, and meals and visa’s (which we need to leave the airport and go to the hotel) and transportation… which saves us hundreds of dollars that we would have spent on hotel and meals and such in Harare! And we didn’t have anything major planned in the morning anyway, so it ended up not only being “not a big deal” but also a blessing.
Makes me think of Romans 8:28 – how He causes all things to work together for good.
